It sounds strange but there is a post office in Dal Lake, Srinagar – India.
Tourist to Jammu and Kashmir now has another attraction- a floating post office on the Dal Lake in Srinagar.
Dal Lake is the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is an urban lake, the second-largest union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a very beautiful place to visit once in life. This pace has secret and strange things to know. Floating Post Office is one of those things that actually blow our mind and force us to get into it.
It was inaugurated in August 2011 by the minister of state for communications and information Technology- Sachin Pilot and fye Chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir – Omar Abdullah.
What makes this post office Unique??
It floats–Well, It seems impossible or very difficult to have a such post office on the water because we are not used to it. Maintaining all the facilities and responsibilities of the post office on a daily basis is a tough job. But It still on the work and keep showing its beauty to us.
Its Services-The majority of the post offices in India do not have another service apart from the post office services. Well, you will surprise that it does have other services apart from its main service. The services are:
Philately Museum-One of the excellent service that has been given to us ever
Shop-it sells postage stamps and other necessary items
Stationary-It also includes post cards, local souvenir items.
Special service-Letter that we post from here carries a special and beautiful design, pictures of lands, dal lake pictures, etc.
Its beauty-Well It’s already mentioned that it floats but on the other hand, it makes it so beautiful that signifies the city and attracts the tourist. It is befitting tribute to the lake which is one of the most famous and often quoted symbols of Kashmir.
