Mangoes are considered to be one of the oldest fruit which were first grown in India over 5000 years ago. The species name of the mango is Magniferi Indica. The oldest living mango tree is 300 years old and is found in Khandesh. The leaves of mango tree are considered to be sacred and are used in almost all Hindu rituals. In addition to India, Mango is a national fruit of Pakistan and Philipines.

When a mango is green, it is affluent in vitamin ‘C’ while as this ripens and matures vitamins ‘A’ increases.   

A basket of mangoes is considered to be a gesture of friendship in India. One of the most loved variety of mangoes- Langda Aam. It was named after a lame farmer of Varanasi who noticed this variety growing in his backyard. Since then, people started calling this variety of mangoes as Langda Aam(in English Langda means Lane).
